• Kailpodh in coorg

Kail means weapons and Podh stands for festival. This celebration is an ode to the weapons of game and war of olden days. Knives, guns, swords, bows, arrows and firearms go through ritual cleansing before being placed in front of the prayer lamp. Kodavas dress in traditional attire and apply symbolic cut of the war knife (Odi Katti) on the plantain trunk.

  • Cauvery Sankramana

It is believed that River Cauvery takes rebirth and a fountain of water emerges from the sacred kund at Talacauvery. Kodava women offer Kanni Puje prayers. This Coorg festival in mid-October is marked with a large banquet of vegetarian delicacies.
